Progressive death metal act DYSTOPIA A.D. explores a bleak future in the new single release, “The Last Citadel.” Drawing sonic inspiration from across metal’s subgenres, the trio is preparing to unleash the new full length offering Wasteland Empire independently on January 15, 2027.
While the band’s music is rooted in death metal, the array of musical influences in DYSTOPIA A.D.’s sound is revealed in this latest single release:
“‘The Last Citadel’ opens the album with a haunting, epic introduction followed by relentless thrash riffs, dueling guitar solos, and gang vocals evocative of classic bands like Exodus and Testament.” DYSTOPIA A.D. explains.
Positioned as the opening track on the band’s forthcoming album, “The Last Citadel” establishes the setting of ‘The Wasteland.’ This desolate plain is a dark depiction of humanity’s future. Lyrically, the track’s narrative sees “survivors band together to fend off the forces of destruction.”
Wasteland Empire was produced, mixed and mastered by DYSTOPIA A.D.. Additional percussion on “Breath of Decay” was performed by Gabriel R. The band’s logo is by Luciferium War Graphics, with the album cover artwork by Hans Trasid of Dis-Art Design.
