Modern metal outfit URAGH have released a video for their track “The Widening Gyre.” The song is taken from their upcoming album Maelstrom which is due for digital release on April 19th, 2024.

Bassist Sebastian Sparr comments:

“For The Widening Gyre video we were trying to capture the essence of us as a unit of four lads playing in our rehearsal space. However, with the images projected onto us, we wanted to give our performance shots a nostalgic tinge. The song’s subject matter deals with loss and grief to an extent, a set of emotions and experiences that some of our band members have gone through, and we felt it was a good way to visualize this as some form of longing for something distant and vanished. We go into these projects with a very loose concept but a lot of the images happen spontaneously and coincidentally while shooting and have their origin in a deeper subconscious. We’ll leave it up to the viewer to imagine what they could mean and hope they can relate to it in some way and integrate their own meaning into it.”

About URAGH:
Based in Dublin, Ireland, URAGH produce music that incorporates a combination of progressive, alternative, and modern metal. Formed by Marcelo Varge (guitar), in 2022. Marcelo was quickly joined by Jason Hodgkins on drums and Sebastian Sparr on bass. After months of searching for a vocalist, Craig Murphy eventually joined and completed the line up of what is now known as URAGH. The band unveiled their first single “Decimate” in June of 2023, before heading into to the studio to work on their debut full-length. The initial taste of Maelstrom, “Monarch” landed in November of last year showcasing the harsher and more abrasive sound intended for the album, a slight shift from the melodic “Decimate”. “The Widening Gyre” provides a further glimpse into the band’s musical direction embracing the proggier side of their sound, without neglecting the emotional outbursts that they have become known for during several cathartic moments in their gigs this year.
