A LIGHT WITHIN, the progressive post-metal ensemble known for their unique blend of catchy yet experimental sounds, is excited to announce the release of their latest single “Page #32 (Morning)”. The new track, showcases the band’s signature style with a fresh infusion of rhythmic drive and melodic intricacy. “Page 32 (Morning)” is taken from their upcoming EP re:preface, due out August 2nd, 2024.
The band says:
“We were a new band in 2012 without enough money or recording experience which somewhat forced us into the world of learning home studio audio production. For those that have listened to the original “Preface” EP, you know it’s a pretty raw demo, but at the time did it’s job of getting us shows and starting our journey as an active band.
(Fast forward to some random time in 2023)
There I was casually listening to music when I decided to throw on the track (Sixes) from “Preface” in which I hadn’t listened to in many years. I sat in my chair disgusted at the bad audio quality, but still engaged in the potential. I searched out the old session from my data archive and started soloing out the instrument tracks, assessing them one by one. With much contemplation, I decided that with all I’ve learned and some modern technology, I could probably give these tracks a bit of new Life without having to re-record it all from scratch. So I worked some months to rebuild the puzzle, and what you hear now should sound a lot more put together. And while it may not be modern-day metal standard, and certainly contains some raw elements due to the original stems, I think I’ve given the songs a new life in which they’ve deserved.

About A LIGHT WITHIN:
Based out of Kansas City, MO, post-metal ensemble A LIGHT WITHIN debuted their first EP, Preface, in 2013 that fused raw, aggressive sounds with progressive post-metal cues. Now, in 2024, they have reworked and enhanced this first release to bring it up to date with their production standard and developed sound. The new EP re:preface will be released on August 2nd, 2024.
Using the original source material, A LIGHT WITHIN has enhanced the clarity and dynamics of the songs. Parts were reworked and reimagined to honor the original EP while injecting new life into the songs. This offering lands as an interlude while work on the forthcoming full-length continues.
The band has seen changes in their line-up over recent years. Bassist Andy Schiller departed from the band, leading to Josh Bennett switching live roles from guitar to bass. Despite the changes, the outfit has released four singles over the past year: in 2023, “Meteoric Fires”, “Count With Your Eyes”, “Terraform”, followed by the most recent, “Identity” in 2024.
These singles were initially intended to be part of the band’s next release, Reconstruction, but life stepped in the way and forced the writing to come to a halt. While the band picks up the pieces of the remaining ideas, Kyle and Jeff decided to bring their 2013 debut EP, Preface up to the production standards of the new singles.
