
As some of you may know, C Squared has evolved from offering strictly PR services to a hybrid model that combines both PR and marketing. While PR is still a key part of what we do, we’ve found that integrating it with intentional marketing delivers far greater impact. Customizing this approach specifically for each band or artist is necessary in order to affectively target the right demographic for their music and the most well suited brands for potential collaborations.
Implementing the best strategy from this hybrid model means it will look different for each client. Fundamentally there are certain aspects such as brand collaborations e.g., with food vendors as part of a tour promotion, who require bands to be of a certain size in order to be considered. For example, this type of collaboration is typically aimed at those with around 10,000, or more, monthly streaming listeners. For smaller artists and those in the early stages of their careers, a more appropriate approach may include arranging giveaways or collaborations with other bands and artists to assist in growing a network and reaching wider audiences.
By focusing on the strengths and distinctive aspects of a band it will greatly increase the likelihood of success both on a short term and a more long term basis. Steps bands and artists can take to place themselves in the best position are to ensure that they are fully aware of their target audience. Grasping a greater understanding of the niches, communities and fandoms their music and themes are relevant to is crucial for generally building their audience as well as for undertaking hybrid promotional strategies.
