HORRENDA, the experimental black metal outfit from Ireland, have unveiled their new offering “Handprints”. The accompanying music video, premiering now at Decibel Magazine, showcases the experience of a live HORRENDA show on film.

The band comments:

“The world has never been more insane; HORRENDA have always aimed to be a mirror on our time and place within modern Ireland. Often looking back and using history to explain how we got here. Now, we’re looking at the psychology zeitgeist of 21st century Ireland and the true darkness that exists within.” On the new chapter accompanying this single release they share: “‘Handprints’ is the first in a new era for HORRENDA. We’re looking to allow people to bring our energetic live shows home every time they listen to our music.”

About HORRENDA:
Hailing from Dublin, Ireland. HORRENDA take elements from raw black metal and DSBM to create their unique brand of the genre. HORRENDA started as an experimental black metal solo studio project of Darragh “Outis” O’Connor in 2015. Taking elements from raw black metal, death metal and other atmospheric ambient influences; the goal was from the start to push the genre into something unique crafted from pure atmosphere and intent. Their 2016 offering Neronian Times saw a musical shift towards a Norwegian black metal influence while still retaining their unique experimental strain.

As the band developed, Arron started pulling from his hardcore roots making HORRENDA shows more intense and an experienced unlike anything else. The band would find success opening for bands like INCIPIT, CHRIST AGONY, ROTTEN SOUND, THE CRAWLING, TENGIL and HEXIS. They have played to audiences around Ireland and beyond, including the Arrow Films launch for the Lord of Chaos movie, shows in Belfast for The Distortion Project, several appearances at the Siege of Limerick and shows for DME including the after show for Mayhem.

In 2019, Horrenda added Mark “Morrdok” O’Brien to their ranks as their second guitarist and turned their attention to the studio, and the band’s first album Díoltas was released in the middle of the pandemic to critical acclaim. In 2021, HORRENDA produced an immersive live stream experience titled, Oíche Shamhna: Live in the Grand Social with videographer CosmopalaceThe experience also appears on the re-issue of Díoltas released in 2022. In September 2023, Matthew ‘Dearg’ McKenna joined as their new drummer.
