CHASING WIND, the Christian Progressive Metalcore band known for their intricate musical style and powerful lyrical themes, is thrilled to announce the release of their latest single, “Abyssal”. The track is now available on all major streaming platforms and sets the stage for their upcoming album, Transience, scheduled for release in 2025.
“Abyssal” explores the profound struggles of trauma and frustration through its compelling lyrics and dynamic compositions. The song reflects the band’s experimental structures, combining melodic instrumentals with crushing breakdowns to convey a narrative that resonates deeply with both the traumatized and their supporters.
The band explains, “Abyssal is an attempt to explain to those who want to help their loved ones overcome trauma that they may not be the messenger for the healing that they’re loved one needs. Sometimes the best thing we can do for someone we love who is going through a rough time is simply remind them that we are there for them, we see them, and that if they need anything, we are ready to provide.”
Following a significant hiatus, the founding members regrouped in Portland, Oregon, creating a lineup now boasting seven members. Since their reunion, CHASING WIND has been actively performing across the Pacific Northwest and is currently in the mixing phase of their album Transience, while simultaneously writing for their follow-up.

CHASING WIND, a Christian Progressive Metalcore band from Portland, Oregon, blends the raw energy of metalcore with intricate musical compositions and profound lyrical themes. Formed initially in 2015 by members serving in the military, the band experienced a brief hiatus before reuniting with renewed vigor in 2020.
Their music is heavily influenced by bands like THE CONTORTIONIST, COUNTERPARTS, and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, which is evident in their complex songwriting and dynamic performances.
