Belgian cinematic progressive metal band AXAMENTA will release their highly-anticipated new EP Spires on July 19th, 2024. The band has offered a teaser of the epic EP, which is a single track spanning over 20-minutes, with “Synopsis”, which can be viewed HERE.
AXAMENTA dives deeper into the influences that stoked the flames of their acclaimed 2006 album Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture, and takes notes from bands like PERIPHERY, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, and DEVIN TOWNSEND to evolve into their own unique sound. Borrowing from their experience producing Hollywood trailer music for blockbusters such as Old (2021), Prey (2022), and The Pope’s Exorcist (2023), Spires throws the listener remorselessly into the intricate story of the EP, adorning the imagery oozing from the lyrics with an organic horror atmosphere. The band invites you to skulk amidst the cold and fragile gossamer threads of the music, revel in their purgatorial storm, and burn with the remorse of unbearable guilt alongside the album’s tortured protagonist. As you wind through layer upon layer of musical and lyrical storytelling, you will steer this burning hearse into the cold depths of hell that comprise the story’s finale.
The music demonstrates a modern progressive slant, laced with a bone-chilling, organic horror atmosphere. Spires is unique in that it is presented as a 23-minute track, divided into 7 acts. The EP dives deeper into vocal harmonies, musical storytelling, and an all-around cinematic atmosphere than the band ever has before, aiming to push the boundaries of modern metal and challenge conventional norms. Fierce growls lay atop blankets of delicate, intricate melodies, giving the music the edge and beauty it needs to convey such an emotionally complex story.
