Canada’s SONS OF ARRAKIS explores undiscovered desert worlds in the new single release, “Rider of the Coriolis Storm.” Using the cinematic universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune as a creative foundation, the band’s melange rock / cinematic Sci-Fi rock sound crafts an immersive atmosphere for their narrative driven tracks. The forthcoming full length Volume III is set to land on January 22, 2027, via Black Throne Productions.
Commenting on “Rider of the Coriolis Storm,” the band explains, “The song introduces an original character within our Dune-inspired mythology: a Fremen who has mastered the art of riding Shai-Hulud through the violent Coriolis storms of Arrakis. Unlike some of the record’s more political or introspective material, this one doesn’t need a deeper hidden meaning—we wanted to have fun inside the universe and create our own desert legend”
“Rider of the Coriolis Storm” brings an adventurous and playful mood. Musically, a galloping central riff is surrounded by fast-pace guitars and an extended instrumental section. A continuous sense of movement and momentum prevails through the arrangement as the rider embraces the power of the sand storm and begins to harness it.
Produced by SONS OF ARRAKIS, Volume III was recorded at Red Tube Studio & Home studios with Luc Boivin, Frederic Couture & Francis Duchesne. The album was mixed and mastered by Karl Daniel Liden. Album artwork and single covers are by artist Alexandre Goulet at Goulet Design.
Volume III will be available on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital formats.

SONS OF ARRAKIS is a Montreal-based band that emerged in June 2019, drawing inspiration from Frank Herbert’s Dune novels. Their unique sound, which they describe as melange rock and cinematographic sci-fi rock, has garnered attention and established them as a notable presence in the music scene.
The band’s debut album, Volume I, released on July 15th, 2022, made a significant impact, quickly climbing to the number 1 spot on the Doom Chart in July 2022. This achievement solidified their status as a formidable force in their genre. Ending the year on a high note, SONS OF ARRAKIS secured the number 8 position in the Doom Chart’s year-end recap for 2022, further cementing their standing.
In January 2023, the band embarked on the Interprovincial Wormhole Tour, captivating audiences throughout Ontario with their electrifying live performances. Expanding their reach, SONS OF ARRAKIS ventured to Quebec in March 2023, for the second leg of the tour, leaving a lasting impression on audiences with their captivating stage presence.
Continuing to prioritize their connection with fans, SONS OF ARRAKIS returned to Quebec in June 2023 for Orbiting the Void Tour, showcasing their dynamic energy and unwavering passion. In October 2023, SOA embarked on a tour across Ontario, aiming to reach new audiences across the province. Additionally, the band traveled to Ciudad de Mexico for a Mexican tour in late-October 2023, coinciding with the renowned La Dia de Los Muertos festivities.
Amidst their busy schedule, SONS OF ARRAKIS began the recording of their highly anticipated new album in December 2023. The band also joined SALEM’S BEND on their trip to Canada with The Great Scattering Tour, which brought them on a journey through Québec and Ontario once again. Volume II released on June 7, 2024, reaching #3 in the Doom Charts for July, and making the Top 10 by the year-end.
2025 brought a number of touring milestones for the band as SONS OF ARRAKIS set out on their first US tour, appeared at Planet Desert Rock Weekend IV. The ensemble made their debut at UK debut at Stoom Fest followed by a European tour including festivals Into The Void and Up In Smoke.
SONS OF ARRAKIS continued to focus on live shows across 2026 returning to Europe for a festival tour including performances at Krach am Bach, Rock im Wald, Free & Easy and Sauzipf Rocks. As well as joining VOIVOD for a Western Canada tour and appearing at Infest Edmonton. Now the band are turning to focus on their next full length offering, Volume III, scheduled for release on January 22, 2027, via Black Throne Productions.
