The song tells the chilling tale of a deceiver who preys on devout followers of Christ, presenting himself as the second coming. Promising salvation, he leads his victims into drinking poisoned wine disguised as the blood of Christ, resulting in a tragic mass suicide within the church. As the souls of the deceived are harvested, the deceiver transcends to a higher, more sinister form—embodying both the theological and existential consequences of fraud and betrayal.
Musically, “Sacrificial Genocide” stands out with its captivating intro that immediately grabs attention. The track is fueled by crushing, high-energy riffs and a melodic yet technical chorus that contrasts the brutality of the breakdowns. About A SCAR FOR THE WICKED:
Based out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the ensemble formed in 2011 drawing primary influences from the likes of THE BLACK DHALIA MURDER, DIMMU BORGIR, THE ZENITH PASSAGE, and BELPHEGOR, and the gory blood-soaked realms of horror. The following year saw the release of the debut EP Scars, with subsequent EPs The Necrobutcher and The Unholy landing in 2014 and 2018 respectively. Across their career, the band have have brought their unyielding energy to festivals around their home state, and notably have shared stages with heavyweight acts including WHITECHAPEL, THY ART IS MURDER, BORN OF OSIRIS, ARCHSPIRE, and CHELSEA GRIN.
