LEFT TO ROT is set to make an explosive return with their new EP, Breath of the Tomb, due out October 6th. The five track project is both brutal and punishing, with scathing lyrics underscored by a jarring wall of sound. In 2021, the band released a demo EP. The debut served as a powerful expulsion of chaotic energy, introducing the world to the raw, frenzied sound of LEFT TO ROT. On the death metal trio’s sophomore effort, they build upon that foundation and set out to bring their core philosophy to life.
Today the band has revealed a blistering new single, “Come To Me”. “There’s nothing better than when a mosh pit goes off and I really wanted to write something mid-tempo that people could go hard too,” said Left To Rot’s Jason Dahlke. “I decided to depart a bit from the riffs I was writing on the rest of the album and take a straightforward approach. When we got together to jam on it we tried to just let the groove guide us with no real desire to make it something it wasn’t.
“Whenever Aryan tells me ‘That riff jams, dude!’ I know I’m on the right track. Justin came up with the idea of a malevolent deity purposely dragging people into its realm to inflict pain on them, so I took that and morphed it into the lyrics. We took out all the frills and just wanted this one to pile drive people into the ground – hope ya dig it.”

About LEFT TO ROT:
LEFT TO ROT is an Austin, Texas-based death metal band founded in 2021. Started by vocalist Jason Dahlke and drummer Justin Olejnik, the project was begun as a means to push musical boundaries. Inspired by the likes of GRAVE, ENTOMBED, BLOODBATH, and DEATH, the founding members sought a way to bring more groove and structural sensibility to modern death metal. However, in order to do any of that, Dahlke and Olejnik first needed a bassist. Soon after, they found their perfect match in bassist Aryan Nawim.
In June 2021, LEFT TO ROT released their first recorded material in the form of a four song demo EP. With track names such as the self-titled “Left To Rot” and the bleak “Forced To Exist,” the band quickly set a precedent for the profoundly dark material they would create. Then, in April 2022, the trio followed up their debut EP with a single, titled “Requiem”. The track served as a grim reminder of the fallacies of man and the ways in which they will be our undoing. Now, LEFT TO ROT trudges further into the dark recesses of the human condition as they prepare to release their sophomore EP, Breath of the Tomb.
