Kicking off the holidays with a whimsical new single, QUICKSILVER NIGHT is excited to announce “Dragon’s Eye View”. Through the collaborative efforts of DIKAJEE, whose writing skillfully weaves intricate storytelling with evocative imagery, and NINA FLORY, whose captivating vocals bring depth and emotion to the performance, this song delivers a unique blend of fantasy and holiday spirit. Drawing inspiration from classic holiday melodies like “Carol of the Bells”, it merges the familiar warmth of the season with an epic narrative. The story follows a young lady embarking on a breathtaking journey atop the wings of a majestic dragon, symbolizing courage, wonder, and the transformative power of adventure, all underscored by a dynamic and magical musical arrangement.

QUICKSILVER NIGHT discusses the history of how the song came to be, noting “”Dragon’s Eye View'” began life as an untitled collaboration between Dikajee and I that we actually began writing in 2022 with an eye towards releasing it the following year. Long story shortened, Dikajee and I began serious production work on the song in the summer of 2023 as we completed our collaborative “Ptichka” EP but we were unable to finish the “Dragon’s Eye View” single in time for the 2023 holiday season as she was heavily engaged in moving from Russia to the United Kingdom at the time.
It then later turned out that we weren’t able to finish the song together in time for release in 2024 either due to more scheduling conflicts; Dikajee’s U.K. tour schedule and the ongoing production of her second full-length album (“The Frame”) occupied the vast majority of her time at that point. Honestly, it was a lot for me to ask of her; we had jointly released a series of three cover songs by Quicksilver Night featuring Dikajee in 2024, after all.
Dikajee and I then jointly decided that it would be best if we were to pursue production of “Dragon’s Eye View” with a different singer, especially since waiting yet another year was unacceptable to either of us. I hadn’t really had much contact with her since we stopped performing together locally several years ago but I reached out to my friend Nina Flory in hopes that she might be interested and available to sing “Dragon’s Eye View” and was delighted to learn that she was indeed. I am excited to be able to work with Nina again and we plan to release more songs together in the coming year.”
About QUICKSILVER NIGHT:
QUICKSILVER NIGHT is the brainchild of Warren Russell, a guitarist and composer whose soul was forever imprinted by the Allegheny foothills surrounding his hometown of Olean, New York. After a distinguished 23-year career as a guitar player in various US Army bands, Russell moved on to begin creating his own music, finding solace in pursuing his art with newfound financial security. His musical background is a tapestry of influences, ranging from the classic rock and enduring bands of his boyhood to contemporary musicians that helped to define his style.
Collaboration is the heart of QUICKSILVER NIGHT. Russell’s endeavor, which is not a typical band, depends on the contributions of a rotating group of gifted musicians and tech-savvy pals. They work in tandem to give the songs life, resulting in an ever-changing musical journey. Russell takes the lead but consistently acknowledges the crucial assistance of the talented team of collaborators that help bring his vision to fruition.
Russell’s creative process is a blend of innovation and authenticity. He meticulously crafts each song using notation software.. This digital schematic becomes the foundation for the addition of live instruments, where guitars, vocals, and more breathe life into the melodies. Russell’s unique approach, which he refers to as “hanging analog flesh on the digital skeleton,” strikes a harmonious balance between creativity and practicality, resulting in the rich and captivating musical experience that is QUICKSILVER NIGHT.
